Heartland Veterinary Center offers full-service equine dentistry, including routine cleanings, rasping sharp edges of teeth, and more. Scheduling your horse's equine float at least once per year is important preventative care to avoid costly issues down the road.
Traditionally, lameness has been defined as any alteration of the horse's gait. In addition, lameness can be manifest in such ways as a change in attitude or performance. These abnormalities can be caused by pain in the neck, withers, shoulders, back, loin, hips, legs or feet. Identifying the source of the problem is essential to proper treatment.
Our portable ultrasound equipment can be used for a variety of things, ranging from simple diagnostic imaging of the limbs, abdomen, and throat to more complicated state-of-the-art techniques such as using ultrasound for guidance during surgical or other procedures. Ultrasound can evaluate soft tissue and look for fractures that cannot be imaged by x-ray.
